The Two Fatalities Named in the Ivy League School Attack as Authorities Press On With Search for Perpetrator.

Two students who were killed in the recent mass shooting on the university campus were honored at the start of the week – as a manhunt for their assailant carried on following the freeing by local law enforcement of the sole person questioned in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was called “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which offered condolences for her at a service on Sunday.

She served as vice-president of Brown’s division of the campus GOP group, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also shared sympathies publicly, stating: “It's indescribable. Keeping in mind her loved ones and companions, especially her parents.”

An International Student

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his initial year at the Ivy League university, according to relatives.

The victim's identification was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sibling Samira said in a online post.

The Shooting Incident

An additional nine individuals were wounded in the violent event in the engineering department of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Authorities said late Sunday that a man aged 24 detained in a raid at a hotel about 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“A perpetrator remains free,” declared the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you need to change course and head another way, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last approximately one day.”

Public Fear

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “We know that this is likely to cause renewed concern for our public”.

The assailant opened fire inside a lecture hall in the engineering facility on over the weekend, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm pistol, a authority reported to the news agency.

Police that searched the inn found two handguns and magazines when the individual was taken into custody, according to reports.

The Wounded Victims

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by the student's death in a tribute. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to the Umurzokov family, companions, and fellow students and lament the passing of his bright future.”
