In the pre-season of 2025, former boss Xabi Alonso invited the youngster to train with the first team and awarded him playing time during pre-season.

"I have dreamed of this every night when sleeping, the very first time I began playing the game, each day you head to training and every day you play a match," stated Pitarch following his debut.

Given a first start in the Spanish league against Getafe - where he spent four years after moving from Atletico in 2018 - he has retained his spot for the next four as fitness issues to Bellingham and Dani Ceballos provided an opening.

The teenager has seized it with performances that have belied his youth and experience.

Born in a Madrid suburb, in the Spanish capital's community, and grew up deeply involved in Spanish football, progressing through youth setups before joining the club's famous youth academy.

He holds both Moroccan and Spanish nationality, giving him the choice to play for both nations at the highest level.

According to Fifa eligibility rules, footballers may represent multiple nations at junior level without being locked in, with the ultimate choice only binding once they play in a official full international.

Pitarch has featured for the Spanish national team at youth level, turning out for both the under-19 and under-20 teams, and participated in the 2025 Fifa Under-20 World Cup, where La Roja reached the quarter-finals.

Nevertheless, he has yet to commit to either full national side, who are watching his progress with interest.

In a recent interview, the player confirmed: "I haven't made my final decision yet. My situation is great with the Spanish federation, but I'll make a decision soon."

His situation mirrors that of other dual nationality players such as club colleague Brahim Diaz and Barca star Yamal. While teenage Yamal opted for La Roja, Brahim decided to play for the Atlas Lions.

Focus on the Future

At present, his attention is on making his mark in the Real side and rewarding his manager's belief.

He played 74 minutes in the 2-1 victory at City, which completed a 5-1 aggregate success and a last-eight matchup with Bayern Munich.
