'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the nail-biting dying seconds of Swansea's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles amid the on-field celebration.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range shot from distance, and the defender quickly converted the rebound before racing off toward the home end to mark the goal, with the crowd congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory capped an unbelievable comeback given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 midway through the second half. In the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a spectator sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory secured a fourth-round game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for attempting the shot from that far out," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before shifting to right defensive wing after the team changed formation. That meant getting to grips with City's winger, with whom he traded tops, and the player was among the City players who paid tribute to the way Orient approached the match.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they understand how to control and slow down a game. You can think you're doing well and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even noticing. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It takes a strong mentality and concentration just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

The club sought to acquire Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across a couple of years at Orient and has rapidly replicated that in Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a loan at League Two Salford, before he departed Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was likely a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is entirely separate. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without real physicality. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that development for his team and nation, excelling for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including two matches games against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he manipulates the ball and his knack for a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

It has been quite the ride for the player from the Queens Park estate in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his parent, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

His single match for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they competed on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was sealed owing to conditions of bitter cold. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he says, smiling. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Leaving United

How hard was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "The decision proved fairly simple, because I arrived at the moment where I realized I wouldn't break through at the top level. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I thought I required a fresh start, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

New Environment

It is the early part of the afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at late afternoon: a learner's exam, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a small coach driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, another squad member, an Ivorian player – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to interact with the guys but I'm aiming to be the following person to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

While playing for Leyton Orient, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on the Tube after beginning his trip at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
